Durham’s progress has always been collective, and so has the work of People’s Alliance.
In 2026, we are celebrating fifty years of people-powered organizing and looking ahead to the next generation of leadership and community action.
50th Anniversary Events
Sing Out for Justice and Songbook Release
In the early 1980s People’s Alliance created a movement songbook used at rallies and organizing gatherings. This year PA will reissue the songbook and host a Community Sing Out.
Your donation will help get the Songbook out into Durham for future rallies and marches.
Amendment One Panel
Organizers and community leaders will reflect on the fight against North Carolina’s Amendment One and the coalition that came together in Durham to oppose it.
Although we did not win that fight statewide, we showed the state what it looks like to organize for what is right, stay true to our values, and build a campaign that lifts up every voice without compromise.
